MICHIGAN AUTOMOTIVE AFTERMARKET LOBBY DAY A SUCCESS!

MIAutomAftmktLobbyDay

Michigan Automotive Aftermarket Lobby Day hosted by the Michigan Automotive Parts Association (MAPA), Northwood University, and the Auto Care Association provided networking, leadership, and collaboration during the day long event held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the Michigan State Capitol in Downtown Lansing, Michigan.

Michigan Automotive Aftermarket Lobby Day offered the opportunity for MAPA members to interact with Northwood aftermarket students about issues facing the industry, and provide leadership as the group talked with more than 25 members of the state legislature to educate them on issues impacting our industry. Relationships with elected officials were developed, and the group shared their stories about the issues affecting their individual businesses.

Fifty students, MAPA members, MAPA board members, and other local industry leaders participated and talked with their local legislators about the automotive aftermarket industry's economic importance in Michigan. The event included attending both a House of Representatives and Senate session, which included group recognition during both sessions. Lunch with Rep. Jack O'Malley, Senator Tom Barrett, Rep. Annette Glenn, and Senator Jim Stamas gave opportunities to discuss the importance of the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act, and Telematics. Specific policy topics included fiscal issues and the possibility of a government shutdown over transportation funding. Legislators were enthusiastic to visit with their constituents.

Thank you everyone who participated in this very important day for our great industry!
